Apple’s latest operation system which is currently in beta Mac OSX Yosemite isn’t compatible with the older 2006 and 2007 Mac Pro while they are perfectly cable of running the new OS as far as performance goes. The latest officially supported version was the 32-bit version of Mac OSX Lion but the Mac Pro’s have no problem in running a full-fledged 64-bit architecture OS. The community has found a way of installing OSX Yosemite on an older Mac Pro, here is how:
How to install Mac OSX Yosemite on older Mac Pro
The latest OS which had a.dmg installer was 10.8.5 (Mountain Lion). So, I created a new, clean, VM based off 10.8.5, then ran the MacOSPublicBetaAccessUtiility.pkg which can be found here. When I tried to install the beta on top of 10.8.5, it said the minimum requirement was Mac OS 10.9. Install Sfott: Fecth the SFOTTinstall.dmg from Main Sfott web. I have been using SFOTT Launcher 1.4.1 to install Mavericks on my 2006 MacBook Pro 17″ with new.
